Organic MCT Oil
MCT oil is a type of oil derived from medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), a type of saturated fat found in coconut oil and other sources. Unlike long-chain fatty acids, which are found in many other oils, MCTs are rapidly metabolized by the body and used for energy rather than stored as fat. MCT oil is colorless and odorless and has become popular as a supplement and cooking oil due to its potential health benefits. In recent years, MCT oil has also been used as a skincare ingredient due to its ability to penetrate the skin and provide quick hydration. MCT oil is rich in medium-chain fatty acids, including caproic (C6), caprylic (C8), and capric acids (C10), and may help to improve the overall appearance and texture of the skin. MCT oil is also non-comedogenic, making it suitable for all skin types, including oily or acne-prone skin.
In terms of supplementation, MCT oil is touted for its potential health benefits, including improved energy and endurance, weight management, gut, and heart health. In cosmetics, MCT oil is used for its moisturizing and nourishing properties and is commonly added to skin and hair care products.
WHAT IS MCT OIL?
MCT oil is made from regular coconut oil. Both are excellent sources of medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), providing fatty acids that contain 6 to 12 carbon atoms. Fractionation is used to separate different fats naturally found in some oils, usually made to make new products for consumers.
Additionally, MCT oil does not become solid at lower room temperatures. It is highly stable and resistant to oxidation in creams, lotions, and other cosmetic skin and hair preparations. Since it is chemically indifferent to other cosmetic ingredients, it acts as a viscosity regulator and assists in the dispersion of essential and carrier oils.

MCT oil is made by extracting medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) from coconut oil or palm kernel oil. The process typically involves the following steps:
• Raw oil extraction: The raw coconut or palm kernel oil is extracted from the fruit or nut.
• Fractionation: The oil is fractionated, or separated, into its individual components, including MCTs, using a process such as distillation.
• Purification: The MCTs are further purified to remove any impurities.
• Blending: The purified MCTs are blended together to create the final MCT oil product.
The result is a colorless, odorless, and flavorless oil composed mostly of caprylic (C8) and capric acids (C10), medium-chain fatty acids. Due to many environmental and ethical issues related to palm oil production, we have only chosen our organic MCT oil from coconut sources.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MCT OIL AND COCONUT OIL
MCT oil is a light carrier oil. This enhances its ability to be absorbed by the skin. The ease of absorption also means MCT oil is less likely to clog pores, especially when compared to coconut oil, and is considered a luxurious version of coconut oil. MCT oil and coconut oil are both derived from coconuts, but there are some key differences between the two:
• Composition: MCT oil is composed primarily of medium-chain fatty acids, including caprylic and capric acids, while coconut oil contains a mix of medium- and long-chain fatty acids.
• Absorption and metabolism: MCTs are absorbed and metabolized differently than other fatty acids, making MCT oil a preferred choice for energy and endurance.
• Uses: MCT oil is commonly used as a supplement or ingredient in food products, while coconut oil is used mainly for cooking and baking.
• Flavor: MCT oil is flavorless and odorless, while coconut oil has a distinct coconut flavor and aroma.
• Texture: MCT oil is a thin, clear liquid at room temperature, while coconut oil is a solid that becomes liquid when heated.
SKIN HEALTH BENEFITS OF MCT OIL
MCT oil is perfectly suitable for blending essential oils like many other carrier oils. Since essential oils are concentrated and potent, combining them with carrier oils is necessary to reap their benefits without causing any harm when applied topically. MCT oil is ideal for increasing the topical distribution of essential oils.
Here is a list of skin health benefits of MCT oil:
• Hydrates skin: MCT oil is easily absorbed and can help retain moisture in the skin.
• Anti-inflammatory: MCT oil has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce redness, swelling, and puffiness.
• Reduces signs of aging: MCT oil is rich in antioxidants that help protect skin from damage caused by the sun or our environment, which can lead to premature signs of aging.
• Promotes a healthy skin barrier: MCT oil can help repair and strengthen the skin barrier, which helps keep skin hydrated and protected.
• Non-comedogenic: Unlike other oils, MCT oil is non-comedogenic, meaning it won't clog pores or lead to breakouts.
• Versatile: MCT oil is lightweight and easily absorbed.
• Nourishing: MCT oil is rich in medium-chain fatty acids, known to nourish the skin.
MCT oil is non-greasy and easily absorbed. It helps to soften and soothe dry skin very effectively. It has a feather-light emollient effect that provides a protective barrier without clogging the pores and is excellent for dry or troubled skin. MCT Oil penetrates the skin readily, thus acting as a carrier for transdermal therapeutic ingredients.
