Cascades: A Rejuvenating Aromatherapy Candle Blend

Spending time in nature, hiking through the Cascades, and appreciating its complex array of green is an uplifting and awakening experience. Best Health Co created the CASCADES candle to embody the renewing and refreshing elements of the Pacific Northwest Cascades.

This aromatherapy candle is intentionally curated using 100% pure aromatic essential oils for a rejuvenating experience. Douglas Fir, Juniper, and Black Spruce lead the way, while subtle notes of Hinoki and Balsam Fir complete this forest-bathing and rejuvenating aroma.

The aromatherapy profile of each botanical can be complex and unique. The following is a breakdown of each essential oil we use in our CASCADES Candle blend.

DOUGLAS FIR

Our Douglas Fir essential oil is steam distilled from the sustainably wildcrafted deep green needles and twigs of the Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) tree growing wild in evergreen forests in the USA. There is a robust yet soft, woody-balsamic, sweet coniferous aroma accompanied by a vibrant, rich character and tenacity.

A Douglas Fir tree is not a single species, as approximately 50 types of Douglas Firs thrive all over the northern hemisphere. These trees can grow up to 320 feet tall and spread as wide as 17 feet. They are only second in size to the North American Sequoia (Redwood). This tree's warp-resistant wood is used in railroad ties, telephone poles, furniture, and home construction.

Its grounding and refreshing qualities are similar to those of other conifer oils, making it an excellent choice for diffusers to purify enclosed areas and promote health during the winter months. Douglas Fir Essential Oil has a calming, restorative effect on both the mind and body. A very uplifting essential oil, especially when you need more strength and emotional fortitude.

Its scent can make you feel as if you were hiking through a forest on a crisp, sunny day. Widely used in DIY cleaning products, Douglas fir essential oil is added to purify and cleanse the environment and restore vitality.

JUNIPER BERRY

Our juniper berry essential oil is steam distilled from the stunning blue-colored berries of the Juniperus communis evergreen tree found in the forested regions of India. The essential oil's fresh, woody-balsamic, slightly sweet aroma has a long history of traditional wellness applications for the mind and body.

Juniper Berry (Juniperus communis) bunch

Juniper berry essential oil is a bright, forest-like scent that blends well with essential oils in the wood, conifer, herbaceous, and floral families. With its richly balsamic and resinous-sweet aroma, juniper berry essential oil invigorates, strengthens, and refreshes the mind and body.

Juniper's tantalizing and fresh aroma can cause a calming, grounding effect by cleansing and purifying the air. Its properties have traditionally been shown to strengthen the nervous system. At the same time, its uplifting effects offer support in times of weakness, low energy, and anxiety.

BLACK SPRUCE

Our Black Spruce essential oil is steam distilled from the dark green lush needles of Picea mariana growing wild in picturesque forests spread across Eastern Canada. It has a fresh, luminous aroma of 'fresh forest,' with warm, woody undertones and a sweet balsamic note in the finish.

It is becoming increasingly popular in aromatherapy. It shares the remarkable energetics of similar needle oils like Fir and Pine. The restorative, refreshing, and purifying qualities of Black Spruce essential oil have a calming effect on the mind and body. A walk in a tranquil conifer forest can bring about inner peace and a feeling of revival.

Black Spruce essential oil is relaxing and calming on an emotional and energetic level. This essential oil encourages soft, gentle self-reflection and can help eliminate negative energy. Additionally, it has a calming and soothing effect that reduces nervousness and situational anxiety while promoting a positive outlook. Black Spruce essential oil is widely used in meditation blends designed to calm a restless mind or spirit with its grounding effects.

BALSAM FIR

Our Balsam Fir essential oil is steam distilled from the aromatic green needles and twigs of the Abies balsamea tree growing in northeastern Canada. There is a distinctive woody, balsamic, evergreen aroma in the oil and a light, clean terpene note as if freshly crushed fir needles were present.

Balsam Fir (Abies balsamea) with cones

Balsam firs are native evergreen conifers, well-adapted to the cold climates of the northern United States and Canada. As a result of its symmetrical crown, its lush green color, and the sweet, turpentine scent it emits from its abundant resin, it has been a popular Christmas tree for hundreds of years.

Balsam Fir essential oil is praised for balancing emotions, supporting healthy lungs, and cleaning the air. Whether it is a long day in the city or a long drive, Balsam Fir Oil is a welcome companion to help you unwind after a busy day. It revivifies with each breath.

HINOKI WOOD

Our Hinoki Wood essential oil is derived from this highly revered tree's wood, not the leaves. This aroma is dry and woody, with light terpenic nuances and soft herbal overtones with a warm, sweet, somewhat spicy undertone. When describing this aroma, the word 'clean' immediately comes to mind.

Hinoki is grown in Japan for its high-quality timber, used to build temples, shrines, ritual baths, and table tennis paddles. Due to its light, earthy aroma, it is also used in traditional Japanese stick incense.

Hinoki (Chamaecyparis obtusa) forest vivid

Hinoki old-growth trees and forests are classified as near-endangered species, of which very little is left. The Hinoki wood harvested by the Japanese government is grown on plantations and does not threaten the protected old-growth Hinoki forests. Our manufacturer uses leftover wood to distill this essential oil that would not be suitable for lumber manufacturing.

Perfumers have taken to Hinoki, as it is a critical ingredient in several renowned fragrances. It is a scent inspired by Japanese hot-spring baths and Scandinavian forests. Hinoki essential oil possesses a comforting and clarifying aroma suitable for many applications.

FINAL THOUGHTS

This complex and balanced blend of invigorating essential oils embodies the dramatic landscapes of its namesake. When burned, this candle will fill your space with the fresh, revitalizing scent of the Pacific Northwest Cascades. Taking you on a journey through its complex array of green, vast dramatic landscapes, and revitalizing aroma, leaving you with an uplifting and awakened experience. Bring Nature Home!
